We've all seen the articles, Microplastics Found in Brains... Placentas Now Have Microplastics... breastmilk, remote places humans don't even live... it's disturbing to say the least and has made me even more committed to avoiding plastics in products my kids use.

I stick with glass, stainless steel and silicone whenever possible. Silicone lasts a lot longer than plastic and is less likely to break down into microplastics making the safer and more sustainable choice. My favorite plastic free dishware that are all dishwasher safe:

Glass plates and bowls

Corelle Vitrelle glass divided plates are perfect for kids or anyone who doesn't like their food touching. We use these at every single meal. Corelle is durable and made in the USA. My then 15 month old chucked one of these down our wood stairs, I lost a phone and my favorite coffee mug to that phase but the plate was totally fine! They come in a dinner plate size as well.

Four white divided glass plates

For snacks we go through about 10 of these Corelle bowls a day. Don't mind the return warning you see on Amazon, most people think they're getting a regular size or soup bowl and this ain't it. But it fits a cut up apple or kid-sized serving of gold fish perfectly and we haven't had one break yet.

Stainless steel tupperware

When my oldest started school and needed to bring a snack with him glass wasn't going to work. I invested in these stainless steel containers https://amzn.to/4isTkpa that have the cutest silicone lids. The size variety is nice and they still look new after two years of use.

5 stainless steel bowls of varying sizes and silicone lids of varying colors

Stainless steel cups

For kids cups I went with this stainless steel set with lids. The different colored sleeves are great for keeping track of whose cup is whose. The lids are plastic but I only use them when my kids have anything other than water which isn't often.

Six stainless steel cups with lids and a rainbow assortment of colored sleeves

Stainless steel water bottles

I had a cupboard full of random water bottle parts before I finally found Pura water bottles. This is one of the most sustainable choices I have made as a mom. Gone are the days of throwing a perfectly good stainless steel water bottle because I lost one piece to the top and it couldn't be replaced.

The best part? NO PLASTIC! None. They are made of stainless steel and medical grade silicone. They only contain 3 parts that are interchangeable and easily replaceable. People always ask me where I got them.

11 oz bottles (I love these lightweight options)

18 oz bottles (comes with sports mode lid but you can use the sippy/straw lid for younger kids)

The tops I use for my baby (he started using it around 7 months with the 11 oz, they do have baby bottle options)

Insulated 9 oz (great for keeping drinks cold!)

Two Pura water bottles with blue sleeves, one with a silicone sippy top and one with a silicone straw top.

The only other cups I have kept around are the stainless steel insulated 360 cups. They have minimal plastic and are nice to have. I would purchase them again.

Two stainless steel 360 lid cups. One with a green silicone top and one with a blue silicone top.

Small changes you can make today

Our world is full of plastic but there are small changes we can make to minimize our exposure. Have you made changes away from plastic? I'd love to hear them!
